The router’s blinking LED lights, mechanical appearance, and unsightly antennas have been an eyesore. Consequently, people have hidden routers behind TVs, in cabinets, or under desks, leading to unstable connections and dead zones. Telcos and router manufacturers have addressed these issues by creating larger devices with more antennas and higher output. However, performance, in fact, significantly improves when users place the router in visible locations. Based on this insights, I initiated the “Vibrant WiFi Project” to propose better router designs and user experiences.
